MOCK AUDITION

APPLY FOR THE PASIC MOCK AUDITION!


Presented each year at PASIC, the Mock Audition is a valuable opportunity to learn from renowned symphonic percussionists from around the world.

Applications Open for Mock Audition on August 1, 2025.

The Process

The Mock Audition is open to all college-aged students. Applicants will be required to submit a preliminary video that is recorded in one continuous, unedited take. From there, semi-finalists will be chosen to participate LIVE at PASIC 2025.

Participation Details

PAS Membership

All applicants must be current members of the Percussive Arts Society through November 30, 2025. Participating students can join PAS, or renew their membership here.

All applicants must be registered to attend PASIC 2025 in order to apply for the Mock Audition. Applicants can register for PASIC 2025 here.

All applicants will be required to submit a preliminary video consisting of the following repertoire:

Marimba

  • Bach: Fugue in g minor from Sonata I for solo violin (Beginning through third beat of bar 24)

Snare Drum

  • Delecluse: Etude 11 from Douze Etudes for Caisse-Claire  (Bar 1 to bar 28 downbeat)
  • Rimsky-Korsakov: Capriccio Espagnole, (Mvt. IV, beginning through letter L+10 bars)
  • Rimsky-Korsakov: Scheherazade (3rd Mvt., D to G)

Xylophone

  • Kodaly: Háry János Suite, (Mvt. 6, beginning to # 1)
  • Stravinsky: 1910 Firebird, (127 – 133)
  • Shostakovich: Polka from The Age Of Gold ballet

Glockenspiel

  • Tchaikovsky: Walz from Sleeping Beauty
  • Respighi: Pines of Rome  (7 to end of Mvt.)

Cymbals

  • Dvorak: Scherzo Capriccioso (Q to the end)
  • Rachmaninoff: Piano Concerto No. 2 (3rd Mvt., 32 to 33)

Tambourine

  • Dvorak: Carnival Overture (beg. to C, & 8 before U to end)
  • Bizet: Carmen, 1a. Aragonaise (bars 1-18 and one before A to 8 before C)

Triangle

  • Bizet: Carmen (Danse Bohème, H to I+2 bars)
  • Brahms: Symphony No. 4 (D to E, & I to end)
  • Applicants will submit a preliminary video that is recorded in one continuous, unedited take by September 15, 2025.
  • Semi-finalists will be selected to participate in the LIVE Mock Audition at PASIC 2024 on Thursday, November 13, 2025.
