Andrew Monteiro is a Music Educator and Arranger based in Philadelphia. He began his drum corps career in 2009 with the Blue Stars, performing with The Cadets Front Ensemble in 2010 and 2011. Since the establishment of Cadets2 in 2012, Andrew served as Front Ensemble Caption Supervisor, later becoming Arranger and Sound Designer from 2016–2018. He was on staff with The Cadets Front Ensemble from 2014–2017, and also held the role of Arranger/Sound Designer for the Bushwackers (2015–2018) and the Reading Buccaneers (2022–2023). From 2019– 2022, he was Co-Arranger and Sound Designer for Carolina Crown, and in 2023 served as Arranger/Sound Designer for The Cadets in what would be the corps’ final season. In the indoor percussion activity, Andrew writes and designs custom shows for high schools nationwide, including PIO Finalist Norwalk High School since 2021. He was the Front Ensemble Arranger, Coordinator, and Sound Designer for Cadets Winter Percussion (PIW) from 2014–2016, leading them to a first-place finish in Independent Open in their inaugural year. Andrew was Sound Designer for United Percussion (PIW) in 2017 and 2018, and since 2019 has been the Sound Designer and Arranger for PIW Finalist George Mason University Indoor Drumline. Andrew is excited to bring his expertise in Front Ensemble design to the Colts in 2026!
Matt Penland is a percussion performer, educator, and arranger based out of Washington, D.C. where he is a percussionist in the U.S. Air Force Band. Matt is currently a percussion arranger for the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps as well as several high school groups across the country. He spent the last several years as an instructor and lesson teacher at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Alexandria, VA. Matt has performed and given masterclasses at many universities and percussion symposiums including PASIC, and the International Percussion Festival in Seoul. He was a section percussionist with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago before joining the Air Force, and was also a Music Academy of the West percussion fellow. Matt has experience as an instructor at the Santa Clara Vanguard, George Mason University Indoor Drumline, and previously arranged music for Music City Drum and Bugle Corps, the Hawthorne Caballeros and Guardians Drum Corps. Matt earned a Bachelor of Music Performance degree from the University of North Texas and a Master of Music Performance degree from Northwestern University and proudly endorses Innovative Percussion, Dynasty USA and Zildjian products.
Born and raised in Newark, Delaware, Travis Peterman began his percussion career in the Christina School District. Quickly finding a passion for the marching arts, he went on to perform as a snare drummer with the Reading Buccaneers, United Percussion, the Blue Stars, and Rhythm X. Travis started teaching drum corps with the Cadets2 in 2012, remaining with the corps for three years. He previously held the positions of Director, Program Coordinator, and Battery Arranger for Cadets Winter Percussion during its three year tenure. From 2015 to 2022 Travis held various roles at Carolina Crown, and he spent 2023 with The Cadets percussion section, in what would be their final season. Starting in 2023, Travis has held positions with the Reading Buccaneers including Percussion Caption Head, Battery Arranger, and Ensemble Coordinator. From 2022 to 2024, Travis served as the Percussion Coordinator for the Atlantic Indoor Association’s North region. Currently, Travis is the Program Director of the George Mason University Indoor Drumline, where he also holds the position of Battery/Visual Designer. Travis is a proud member of the Vic Firth, Pearl/Adams, and Remo education teams.
Tyler Sammons is a percussionist, educator, and composer/arranger based in Dallas, Texas. Since 2023, he has served as the Percussion Supervisor and Front Ensemble Arranger for the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps from Rockford, Illinois. Tyler earned degrees in Percussion Performance and Music Theory from the University of North Texas in 2011. He has been active in the drum corps activity for 20 years, most notably spending 11 years on the percussion staff of the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps. In addition to his drum corps involvement, Tyler is an active arranger whose work has been performed nationwide at Bands of America Regional, Super Regional, and Grand National Finals, as well as UIL State Marching Contest Finals in Texas. He is also a highly sought-after clinician and adjudicator, serving on the percussion adjudication panel for Winter Guard International (WGI). Tyler is a proud artist with Innovative Percussion, Sabian, and Remo.

Powerhouse Arranging
Session Description:
PASIC 50 will showcase another installment of Powerhouse Arranging. This year Matt Penland and Tyler Sammons of Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps and Travis Peterman and Andrew Monteiro of George Mason University Indoor will be our featured clinicians. They will explore the similarities and differences between approaching marching percussion composition from an “indoor” vs “outdoor” lense. Join us for an opportunity to look in the compositional process of both of these outstanding programs.
