Isac Jamba

Isac Jamba is a self-taught drummer and musician with over 30 years of experience in music.

He chose music as his path, challenging the traditional future that society often tries to impose. Since childhood, drums and Brazilian rhythms have been his passion. With the support of his mother, who was also a musician, and his entire family, he decided to follow this calling.

He has worked with renowned artists, recorded over 100 albums, and performed at international festivals. But what truly drives his is a passion for teaching and sharing the knowledge he’s gained along the way.

Isac lives in the US where he teaches Brazilian rhythms to musicians worldwide through his online platform. He travels to deliver workshops and masterclasses, always with the goal of inspiring and helping other musicians improve their skills.

What moves him the most is teaching — and witnessing the growth and transformation of his students.
Brazilian Drumming for Every Style – Beyond Borders

Session Description:

The drum set is an American instrument, while in Brazil, our rhythms were originally born from separate percussion instruments. My approach is to bring the richness of those Brazilian rhythmic cells into the drum set, reimagined through a jazz lens.

It’s as if Art Blakey or Max Roach had been born in Brazil, playing Samba, Baião, Frevo, and Maracatu. In this clinic, I will explore Brazilian ostinatos, original rhythmic phrases, and the essence of our traditional grooves—while showing how they can be applied creatively to the modern drum set in any style of music.

I also share my personal concept of drumming through melodic lines, developing muscle memory and freedom of expression so that the drum set becomes not only a rhythmic, but also a melodic voice.

Join me on this journey of rhythm, melody, and creativity—where Brazilian roots meet global possibilities.
