
Education Committee Panel
The PAS Education Committee conducts research and focuses on the creation of practical and philosophical materials to assist educators in the comprehensive teaching of their percussion students. The committee produces workshops, training sessions, articles, resources, and video content as well as develops spaces for networking, collaborating, and stimulating discussions on music education. The committee comprises several educators at various levels of teaching, from elementary to college, and from band directors to private instructors.

Session Description:
This panel discussion, organized by the PAS Education Committee, will explore practical approaches for educators, at all levels, who are increasingly tasked with supporting students who face socio-economic challenges, physical and mental health concerns, neurodiversity, and other unique circumstances. Panelists will share real-world strategies for building inclusive, supportive, and equitable music classrooms. Topics include:
• Socio-economic barriers to music education.
• Supporting the physical and mental health needs of student musicians to optimize learning.
• Effective teaching methods for neurodivergent learners, including students on the autism spectrum.
• Creative strategies to foster a sense of community belonging within percussion ensembles.
