Greyson Nekrutman
Greyson Nekrutman is a highly versatile and dynamic 24-year-old drummer from Long Island, New York, who has captivated a global audience with his explosive talent, deep musical knowledge, and relentless work ethic. Greyson first burst onto the international music scene as a teenager, leveraging a social media presence that now nears 2 million followers. He is widely recognized for his rejuvenation of Big Band and Swing drumming styles, gaining millions of views with his high-energy, note-for-note video transcriptions of iconic jazz legends. Greyson’s affinity for the drums began at age four, but his path was defined by a serious illness at age 10 that frequently disrupted his schooling. Turning to the drums for “salvation,” he developed a tireless commitment to his craft. Frequently labeled a prodigy, Greyson is quick to correct the term, stating: “I was not born a talented drummer. Where I believe I am gifted is at working extremely hard.” This profound discipline quickly caught the industry’s attention, leading to a diverse professional career. Early on, he performed and recorded with William DuVall (Alice in Chains), Billy Howerdel (A Perfect Circle), Veronica Swift, and DJ Premier’s “The Badder Band” at major events including Paris Fashion Week and the Montreal Jazz Festival. He has also been prominently featured as an artist and educator for premier industry platforms like Drumeo and Sweetwater. Demonstrating his vast musical range, Greyson executed a sharp genre turn in 2023 by joining crossover thrash legends Suicidal Tendencies for his first world tour. In February 2024, he was invited to join iconic heavy metal band Sepultura for their Celebrating Life Through Death farewell world tour, currently anchoring the global stage and on the band’s recent four-song EP, The Cloud of Unknowing. In tandem with his heavy metal touring schedule, Greyson serves as the featured guest live drummer for Whiplash in Concert, executing the Academy Award-winning film’s high-octane score under the direction of its original composer and conductor, Justin Hurwitz. Between touring commitments, Greyson conducts clinics, masterclasses, and participates in major drum festivals worldwide. Greyson proudly endorses Pearl Drums, Meinl Cymbals, Evans Drumheads and Vater Drum Sticks.
