Percussion Works by Women, for Women
In “Percussion Works by Women, for Women”, the audience will witness a cohesive program of 6 existing solo works written by entirely female composers, along with a brand-new premiere for Marimba+Vibraphone duo by Kama Omori, proudly sponsored and commissioned by Edition Svitzer. The goal of this concert is to highlight existing works by female-composers, both well-known and lesser-known, along with bringing a new piece to life. The program will consist of “Boomslang” by Rosanne Eetezady, “Mørkeblå” by Adrianna Kubica-Cypek, “Marimba D'Amore” by Keiko Abe, “FRAGRANT WOOD” by Malika Kishino, and “Château de La Napoule” by Ana Krstajić, a brand new work for snare drum solo by Lorena Navarro, along with the brand-new duo work by Kana Omori. As we all were, or still are, young female students looking for our way in the world of percussion, this concert is something that would have completely changed our lives to see as we attended PASIC in the past- we hope to bring this idea to life, to materialize this inspiration and global collaboration. We hope there will be many High School/University students in the audience who gain new ideas and beliefs for what is possible for them, in their futures as musicians. We hope not only to inspire any young female percussionists attending PASIC, but also provide an opportunity for any artist to find pieces that can help them to create a more representative program in the future. Our artists proudly endorse Edition Svitzer, Pearl/Adams, Yamaha, Kolberg, Evan’s Drum Heads, and Sabian Cymbals.
