Deep Listening Gong & Sound Bath
Join Dr. Arin Levy (Enso Sounds & Healing Arts) for an immersive sound bath designed as a restorative listening experience within the high-stimulus environment of PASIC. This session offers percussionists an intentional pause from rehearsals, clinics, and the exhibit hall—a space to reset the ears, body, and attention before returning to the demands of performance and practice.
The experience is built around a large-scale setup of 16 gongs, singing bowls, handpan, and other resonant instruments. Through live, improvised sound, Arin constructs a long-form sonic environment that emphasizes sustained vibration, overtone interaction, and spatial listening. Rather than presenting repertoire, the session invites participants to experience sound as a continuous field—allowing time, resonance, and silence to do the work.
The session begins with a brief grounding to help participants arrive fully in the space and attune their attention. This is followed by an extended period of uninterrupted sound and concludes with shared silence, offering time to integrate the experience and notice shifts in perception, focus, and physical state.
For drummers, this session supports nervous system regulation after hours of high-impact playing, reduces physical and cognitive fatigue, and sharpens listening through exposure to complex, slowly evolving sound. Many participants report improved focus, decreased muscular tension, and a renewed sense of clarity that carries back into practicing, teaching, and performing.
Please arrive 5 minutes early to get settled. Bring a yoga mat, blanket, and any props needed to rest comfortably on the floor. We honor this space through a shared agreement of quiet, stillness, and mutual respect—to support an inclusive, caring environment where each participant is free to simply be.
