Drum Her In: A Call to Circle
Session Description:
The drum is a human communication enhancer. For 20+ years, the Drum Circle Facilitators Guild (DCFG) has used rhythm to build community and wellness programs. This workshop explores world drums’ history, culture, and their role in human rights and social justice, especially for women and marginalized groups. Participants will learn world instrument techniques and how rhythm supports wellness and personal growth. This interactive discussion is not intended ONLY for those who identify as female or marginalized. Any persons interested in learning about ways to use drums and rhythm for wellness, particularly with specific groups are welcome to this workshop. Rhythm is a primal energy source no longer restricted to certain groups. We will show too the research supporting how rhythm introduced to diverse populations has amazing positive impacts. Together, we will discover how drumming fosters community connection and healing beyond performance to a world of service and healing.
