The Rules of Modern Quad Drumming and When to Break Them
Session Description:
On the world’s biggest marching stage, what mechanics and methodologies apply to quad drumming? While we work on fundamentals every rehearsal at Rhythm X, we have also developed a framework to achieve extremely demanding music with consistency. We often apply the traditional rules of quad drumming to playing zones, scrapes, crossovers, but make plenty of exceptions to them as well. We are excited to share our framework with the public, including practical tips and common analogies.
As seasoned instructors, we have been instructing Rhythm X together since 2018. We will bring the 2025 Rhythm X Quadline on stage to demonstrate our methods live with both warmup exercises and advanced show music from this year’s production.
This clinic is for tenor drummers of any level, instructors, arrangers, and anyone who is curious about the instrument. Attendees will receive a handout outlining our main concepts and leave our clinic with concrete advice for their playing and teaching, from basic principles to the most advanced artistry.
