Giving Tree Music

Giving Tree Music has been providing interactive and team building drum circles around the USA for over 25 years. We work with schools, hospitals, corporate groups, seniors, and special needs groups. The mission is to build connections and strengthen community with whatever group we are working with – and we use the drum as the vehicle to accomplish this goal. One particular area of focus has always been the special needs facilities and centers – these are often our most underserved populations, who at the same time need these opportunities most. We have been very fortunate to work with people across the entire spectrum of the very broad special needs community: Blind and low vision people of all ages, the deaf and hearing impaired, folks with developmental disabilities and brain injuries, autistic and non verbal children and adults, and so many other people who deserve, and are given the opportunity to connect with the rhythm and inspire their community.
Sharing Rhythm & Spirit with our Differently Abled Communities

Session Description:

This interactive session empowers facilitators to connect better with individuals with disabilities through rhythm-based activities that inspire inclusion, joy, and self-expression. Whether you’re already working with diverse populations or just getting started, you’ll gain practical tools & meaningful insight to enhance your facilitation. Participants will explore adaptive drum circle games and rhythm exercises designed to build connection. We’ll simulate low vision using blindfolds, share techniques for drumming with deaf and hard-of-hearing groups, and discuss the power of “radical acceptance” when working with individuals with profound disabilities. Real-life stories from thousands of drum circles will highlight the transformative impact of this work. By the end of the session, you’ll see how rhythm can be a vehicle for service, healing, and spontaneous joy. Most importantly, you’ll leave inspired to create safe, creative spaces where everyone—regardless of ability—can feel seen, heard, and connected.
