Pius, Eriko, and Michael, drawing from Abe-sensei’s legacy as a performer, composer, and educator, infuse their performances with a rare blend of humanity, wisdom, and passion for marimba. 

Pius Cheung, hailed by the New York Times as “deeply expressive” for his groundbreaking recording of Bach’s Goldberg Variations on marimba, has presented solo recitals at Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, National Centre for the Performing Arts (Beijing), National Concert Hall (Taipei), Kyoto Arts Center (Japan), Usedom Music Festival (Germany), Chiapas International Marimba (Mexico), Drum Fest (Poland), and Percussion Plus (Denmark). His latest compositions include Allegro Brutale, commissioned by Dame Evelyn Glennie; Princess Chang Ping and Heaven and Earth, for the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra; and Hibiki, for the Eugene Symphony Orchestra. Pius directs the percussion program at the University of Oregon. He endorses Yamaha, Zildjian, Remo, and Innovative Percussion, producing his signature mallets series.
