Angela Smith first heard steelpan as a “small-town Texas teen” when she was visiting a cousin in New York City. Years later, she became involved with the Inside Out Steelband Project in Austin, Texas and became intensely interested in pan (or, as she states in her Preface, “fanatic about all things pan.”)
