Inspired by “Danse Bacchanale” from Saint-Saëns’s “Samson and Delilah,” this two-mallet work for marimba is built around a simple melody that is passed through various treatments, such as the addition of pulsating bass notes, rescoring up and down octaves, and filling in rests with sixteenth notes.
