Composed in 2012, “Purity 2” is an extension of Golinski’s “Purity 1,” which won first prize in the Universal Marimba Composition Competition in 2011. Many of the themes from the original marimba solo make an appearance in this new work, with sections being more of a re-orchestration as opposed to new material.
