Carlos Antonio Boracchi was timpanist with the La Scala Royal Opera Orchestra in Milan, Italy. In 1842, he authored his Manual for the Timpanist in which he presented timpani performance practice of the day in Italy and descriptions of his timpani inventions, for which he was awarded in 1839.
