Six Elegies Dancing
Session Description:
This New Music/Research Performance Piece would be the performance of Six Elegies Dancing by Jennifer Stasack. Given that the subject of the New Music Research focuses the use of movement in musical performance, this piece in which one movement is entirely movement focused is an ideal choice for the focus day. This composition is the focus of one chapter from my Doctoral Dissertation is entitled “Interpreting the Relationship Between Movement and Music In Selected Twentieth Century Percussion Music”. My performance of this work will offer the PASIC attendees a presentation supported by documented in depth study and knowledge of the importance of movement and gesture as a significant performance element.
