ABOUT Victor Pons
SESSION TITLE: Performance of “Time and Money” by Pierre Jodlowski
Victor Pons is a modern percussionist known for “stretching the bounds of electronics and vibraphone” (ArtsATL). Dedicated to advancing new music through contemporary technological trends, Victor is described by the Goat Farm Arts Center as “amongst the radicals reshaping musical parameters.” Specializing in new works featuring live electronics, particularly on the vibraphone, he showcased his expertise in a solo program titled Ampere, which premiered at the Goat Farm Arts Center in May 2013. Ampere has since been performed across North America, from PASIC to the Transplanted Roots Research Symposium. Victor received a New Music USA grant to collaborate with composer Preston Beebe on a new work for vibraphone and electronics, resulting in Hive, which premiered at PASIC 19.
Victor is a member of the Percussive Arts Society (PAS), is Chair of the Music Technology Committee of PAS, served on the Executive Committee as Secretary/Treasurer for the Illinois Chapter of the Percussive Arts Society, is a USA ambassador for Resta-Jay Percussions, and is a Black Swamp Percussion Artist. Victor is a former Instructor of Percussion and Computer Applications in Music at Georgia State University and directed the percussion program at the Westminster Schools. He can be seen freelancing across Atlanta and the Southeast with groups that include the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Alliance Theater, Charleston Symphony Orchestra and the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra.
