MATT NOLAN CUSTOM & HARLAN PERCUSSION
Introducing The Tom Stubbs Collection by Matt Nolan
Tom Stubbs has been considered one of the finest cymbal players in the world with a collection of cymbals heard on many Grammy Award winning recordings and in Concert Halls around the world. He owns a collection of some of the finest cymbals ever heard.
The 6 pair in “The Tom Stubbs Collection by Matt Nolan” reflect the cymbals that have been used in his 51 year career as cymbal specialist in the St. Louis Symphony. They can still be heard on the extensive Grammy award winning recording of the SLSO. The Tom Stubbs Collection by Matt Nolan reflect the finest six pair of cymbals used by Mr. Stubbs throughout his career.
Matt Nolan is the UK’s only cymbalsmith and gong maker, making some of the finest cymbals in the world. Matt has earned an international reputation with clients for his bespoke work including Björk, Massive Attack, Dame Evelyn Glennie, Danny Elfman and many top Orchestras and Operas around the world.
Matt uses ancient forging techniques in combination with modern-day materials to create instruments that range from the traditional to the cutting edge. He works with his hands, eyes and ears using simple mechanical tools – hammers, anvils and fire – to turn inanimate pieces of metal into “gorgeous instruments that not only sound great but blur the line between musical instruments and art”. The perfect choice to make The Tom Stubbs Collection.
“I had a love for the old K. Zildjian Constantinople cymbals that were made in the early part of the 20thCentury,” Tom said. The bulk of the new collection was patterned after these old treasures.
Tom Stubbs will be at PASIC demonstrating and talking about the new line at Harlan Percussion/Matt Nolan Custom, booths 406 and 408.

SABIAN
SABIAN and Todd Sucherman Launch Redlight & Spotlight Crashes
SABIAN is proud to announce the release of two exciting new crash cymbal collections developed in collaboration with acclaimed Styx drummer Todd Sucherman: the HHX Redlight Crashes and the AA Spotlight Crashes.
Following the success of the HH Sessions Ride, Todd and SABIAN’s design team have once again partnered to create cymbals that meet the demands of today’s drummers both in the studio and on stageO.
The HHX Redlight Crashes bring a dark, complex tone with crystalline shimmer, voiced specifically for recording environments. The AA Spotlight Crashes deliver bold projection, clarity, and shimmer—designed to shine under stage lights and cut through any mix. Both collections feature a buttery feel and musical response, offered in 18”, 19”, 20”, and 22” sizes.
“With Redlight, I wanted to design a cymbal that bridges the gap between an Artisan and an AAX—something refined, complex, and perfectly suited to recording,” says Todd Sucherman. “Spotlight, on the other hand, had to be a stage animal—bright, powerful, and alive under the lights. Together, they cover both worlds with a musicality I’m truly proud of.”
“Working with Todd is always inspiring—he pushes us to refine every detail,” adds Randy Ross, SABIAN’s Head of R&D. “Redlight and Spotlight show the full spectrum of what cymbals can be today: one line optimized for the studio, the other for live performance. It’s a complete solution for modern drummers.”
Stacey Montgomery-Clark, SABIAN’s VP of Sales & Marketing, comments: “Todd’s credibility as both a recording and touring artist makes this launch incredibly exciting for dealers and players alike. These cymbals aren’t just artist pieces—they’re built to sell, with appeal across every playing style and genre.”
TECHRA
Raiko — The Son of Thunder
TECHRA INTRODUCES THE WORLD’S FIRST CARBON FIBER MARCHING STICK – DEBUTING AT PASIC 2025.
Techra, recognized globally for pushing the boundaries of drumstick technology, enters a new arena with the launch of RAIKO, the first-ever carbon fiber stick designed specifically for marching percussion.

Engineered for formation. Built for endurance
RAIKO is the product of years of study, testing, and focused invention. It was created in Italy utilizing the same high-performance composite technology used in the automotive and aerospace sectors. RAIKO is a stick that endures because it was designed to face the demanding requirements of bands, drumlines, schools, and military units.
Why Raiko?
Minamoto no Raikō, also called Minamoto no Yorimitsu, was a renowned Heian-era samurai who is revered in Japanese folklore for his brave leadership, strategic acumen, and discipline. Raiko ( ) is a tribute to him. His tales, which frequently combine myth and reality, have persisted for generations, presenting Raiko as a figure of power, poise, and control in the midst of anarchy.
The name itself can be broken down into two parts: “rai” (雷), meaning thunder, and “ko” (子), meaning child or son, which gives rise to the series title: “The Son of Thunder”. Taiko, the art of large group drumming where accuracy, cohesion, and visual power come together, is also native to Japan. RAIKO embodies this spirit by fusing technical skill with visual impact.
The Raiko marching series was created for percussion bands that depend on synchrony and structure, much like Raikō led with power and clarity.
“Marching percussion has its own rules. You need sticks that survive rain, sun, repetition, and the pressure of unison. RAIKO is our response to that need.”
Crafted for Marching Performance
This stick was made for groups, ensembles that need to be consistent with dozens of players, and instruments that hold up well under the most demanding performance situations and hours of practice.
RAIKO sticks are up to ten times more durable than conventional wooden sticks and are resistant to water damage, chipping, warping, and cracking. Techra’s Anti-Vibration System, which is incorporated into the inner construction, provides exceptional comfort and less stress on the wrists and joints throughout prolonged play.
Technical Specifications
Two different versions of the Raiko series are available, each designed to satisfy the needs of marching percussionists in various environments:
• The Raiko Snare model features a length of 432 mm and a diameter of 17.2 mm, offering power, balance, and precision ideal for high-impact snare performance.
• The Raiko Tenor model, slightly more compact at 405 mm in length with the same 17.2 mm diameter with a round tip matching the shaft diameter, is optimized for mobility and control across multi-tenor configurations.
Each stick is made from matte black carbon fiber, featuring pad-printed red kanji and lettering, and a red end cap for enhanced visibility and aesthetic.
All pairs are weight-matched within ±1g, ensuring reliable and consistent feel from stick to stick, batch to batch.
RAIKO will debut at PASIC 2025 – Indianapolis
