Percussive Arts Society to Receive $20,000 Award from the National Endowment for the Arts
The Percussive Arts Society (PAS) is pleased to announce it has been approved by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) for a Grants for Arts Projects award of $20,000. This grant will support activities related to the 50th Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC). The NEA will award 1,127 Grants for Arts Projects awards nationwide totaling more than $31.8 million as part of the recent announcement of fiscal year 2025 grants.
“The NEA is proud to continue our nearly 60 years of supporting the efforts of organizations and artists that help to shape our country’s vibrant arts sector and communities of all types across our nation,” said NEA Chair Maria Rosario Jackson, PhD. “It is inspiring to see the wide range of creative projects taking place, including PASIC.”
“The arts play a valuable role in people’s lives, through performance, education, and culture. The NEA provides critical support to the endeavors of so many artists and educators, and PAS is proud to be recognized by this highly competitive award through the Grants for Arts Projects program,” said PAS Executive Director Joshua Simonds. “We will use this generous gift to help further our mission to inspire, educate, and support percussionists and drummers throughout the world, and to further establish Indianapolis as the definitive drums and percussion capital of the world.”
PASIC, held each November in Indianapolis, is considered “The Greatest 4 Days in Drums and Percussion” as it brings together performers, educators, students, and percussion enthusiasts from around the world for dozens of concerts, clinics, masterclasses, workshops, panels, and presentations from more than 100 presenters representing all genres of music. PASIC50 will happen November 12-15, 2025, and will honor the event’s history, celebrate today’s talented performers and educators, and look forward to percussion’s exciting future. The NEA grant will help PAS bring world-class percussionists to Indianapolis and provide the highest-level professional development opportunities for drummers and percussionists from around the globe. For more information on other projects included in the NEA’s grant announcement, visit arts.gov/news.
