DrumIsland Festival
April 24-26, 2026
Presenting a combination of contests, clinics and concerts, DrumIsland Fest (@drumislandfest) has announced that the 4thannual edition of the popular drum festival will take place in Kyiv, Ukraine from April 24-26. 2026. The event brings together drummers, educators and industry representatives for a weekend that celebrates the enthusiasm, vitality and solidarity of the Ukrainian drumming community.
According to DrumIsland’s creator/director, Dmytro Khoroshun, DrumIsland Fest 2026 is shaping up to be the largest in the event’s history with more drummers, percussionists and ensembles participating, as well as more support from local and international sponsors, than in previous years.
The list of top Ukrainian drum artists and educators appearing at the festival includes: Oleksandr Liuliakin, Yakiv Taruntsov, Fedir Khodakov, Yevhen Dobrovolskyi, Hryhorii Oliinyk, Pavlo Halytskyi and Oleksandr Murenko.
DrumIsland Fest has also announced that DrumIsland 2025 Grand Prix winner, Isai Chornobryvets (@chornobryvets_isai), has been selected as one of the festival’s “Youth Ambassadors”. Isai, who turns 9 years old in April, is currently on tour as a guest drummer with top Ukrainian rock band, Ulyana Del Rey (@ulyanadelrey). He will join fellow Youth Ambassadors Kyrylo Kushchenko and Yehor Balaban as featured performers at DrumIsland Fest 2026.

NYU Steinhardt Percussion Studies
April 24 & 25, 2026
The NYU Percussion Ensemble and the Educational Theatre Program will present the U.S. premiere of Carl Orff’s Astutuli in an English translation, in a collaborative production between NYU Steinhardt and NYU Tisch School of the Arts.
The production is directed by Nancy Smithner and conducted by Jonathan Haas, with Jess Ong serving as Assistant Director and translator. The staging features contemporary visual artist Doug Frohman, whose artwork is integrated into the actors’ costumes and projected on scrims and screens, creating an immersive visual environment inspired by historic interdisciplinary collaborations such as Picasso and Satie’s Parade.

The Denison (TX) TUTTI Festival is a days-long celebration of original works emerging from collaborations among professional and student composers, musicians, fine artists, dancers, theatre-makers, and creative people across the genres. Summer TUTTI is an outgrowth of this exhilarating experience.
