Inspired by Mt. Diablo (otherwise known as “The Devil’s Thicket”) in San Francisco’s East Bay area, this piece, at times, evokes the character and mood of works such as Saint-Saëns’ “Danse Macabre” and Gounod’s “Funeral March of a Marionette.”
