Grover Pro Percussion
Grover Pro Percussion Celebrates 45 Years of Craftsmanship and Innovation
Grover Pro Percussion proudly marks its 45th anniversary in 2025, celebrating decades of creating some of the finest percussion instruments in the world. Since its founding in 1980 by Boston-based percussionist Neil Grover, the company’s instruments have become staples for top percussionists, students, and ensembles in virtually every corner of the globe.

The Grover Pro story began with Neil Grover’s quest to reproduce the vibrant sound of a vintage Leedy triangle used by the Boston Symphony. Collaborating with students at MIT’s Acoustics & Vibrations Lab, Neil meticulously analyzed the triangle’s overtone resonance, eventually crafting a 9” triangle for his personal use. The instrument’s exceptional musicality quickly gained attention, and Neil began making triangles by hand for his Boston colleagues, inadvertently launching the now-iconic Grover® Super-Overtone™ triangle.
Over the years, Grover Pro expanded its offerings to include tambourines, mallets, woodblocks, snare drums, and more, always maintaining a commitment to impeccable craftsmanship and superior sound quality. Each product has been personally developed and tested by Neil Grover, ensuring that the company’s high standards of quality remain unmatched.
To commemorate its 45th anniversary, Grover Pro is releasing a limited edition headless tambourine inspired by its renowned Studio Pro model. This celebratory tambourine features a striking sapphire shell and a unique mix of silver, bronze, and copper jingles, accompanied by a matching sapphire 45th-anniversary bag. As a special thank-you, Grover Pro will include this exclusive bag with every professional model tambourine sold throughout 2025.
Neil Grover, Founder of Grover Pro Percussion, reflected on this milestone: “It’s incredible to think that what started as a single triangle has grown into a global brand synonymous with quality and innovation. As we celebrate 45 years, we remain committed to crafting instruments that inspire musicians and enrich performances worldwide.”
Grover Pro Percussion Re-Introduces the Innovative BlocKnock™
Grover Pro, is proud to announce the relaunch of the BlocKnock™, an innovative accessory designed to expand the versatility and playability of wood blocks. Originally introduced in 2014, the BlocKnock™ is now back and ready to provide percussionists with an indispensable tool for modern performance demands.
The BlocKnock™ allows musicians to produce the traditional woody “crack” of a wood block using either a hand or mallet, offering unparalleled flexibility for players across a wide range of musical contexts. This tool is a game-changer for percussionists required to switch instruments rapidly, as well as for show players in pit orchestras and hand drummers looking for enhanced sound options.
Designed for quick and easy use, the BlocKnock™ attaches securely to any Grover Pro wood block and can be removed effortlessly when not in use. Crafted with care from durable coated spring steel and hardwood, it features a specialized striking face to ensure consistent, high-quality sound production across all wood block sizes.
Neil Grover, Founder of Grover Pro Percussion, highlighted the product’s return and enduring value: “When we first introduced the BlocKnock™ in 2014, it was met with tremendous enthusiasm from the percussion community. We’re thrilled to bring it back, as it offers musicians a unique combination of efficiency and creativity while delivering the rich, authentic sound Grover Pro is known for.”
Grover Pro Expands Protégé Series with Triangles and Beater
Grover Pro, is excited to announce the latest additions to its Protégé series, originally introduced in 2024. Joining the line’s existing tambourines and wood blocks are the Protégé Triangles and Beater, offering percussionists outstanding sound quality and versatility at an accessible price point.
The Grover Protégé Triangles, available in 6″ and 8″ sizes, continue the series’ tradition of exceptional craftsmanship. Made from premium steel, these triangles resist corrosion while preserving the natural overtone spectrum for a shimmering, dynamic tone. The 6″ model delivers a versatile sound with a clear, bright tone suited for general use. The 8″ triangle offers greater projection and body, ideal for applications requiring a bolder, fuller sound. Both sizes produce a consistent overtone spectrum across their entire dynamic range.
Completing the expansion is the Grover Protégé Beater, designed to pair seamlessly with the triangles. Crafted from a stainless-steel alloy, the beater minimizes contact noise while producing a rich, articulate sound. Its extra-long 8.9” length and 7/32” diameter make it perfect for executing intricate rhythms and rolls with ease, while the Easy Grip handle ensures comfort during extended performances.
Neil Grover, Founder of Grover Pro Percussion, shared his thoughts on the new additions: “The Protégé series has been a game-changer, offering professional-grade instruments that are accessible to musicians at all levels. With the addition of the triangles and beater, we’re continuing to expand the possibilities for percussionists looking for quality and reliability without compromise.”
