In an effort to familiarize students with the idea of learning songs in a lead-sheet setting, Jazz Solos for Mallets is a collection of tunes in a variety of styles that provide students with short pieces that include a melody and lead-sheet chord changes, with the form of some being developed more than others to include introductions, open solo sections, and outros. Each solo also comes with a composed piano accompaniment, with the idea of performing these songs as duets.
