Percussionists are frequently asked to collaborate within the compositional process of learning to play a new instrument or being asked to design and build that instrument. This paper details the process of constructing the set of sixxen built for the percussion sextet Redfish Bluefish and subsequently used in performances and a recording of “Pleiades”.
