This issue of Percussive Notes features a report on the 2020 International Percussion Ensemble Competition (IPEC), including the winners that were invited to perform a Showcase Concert at PASIC 2021. The selection process of the competition, where ensembles submit up to 30 minutes of unedited recordings, is described, alongside the blind adjudication by a panel of experts. The article also contains a sample of the literature submitted by the ensembles for the competition which is compiled in the hope of serving as a resource for directors in search of repertoire ideas for their own ensembles.
